Tragedy In Semarang

The first incident occurred in Semarang City, specifically in Tambakrejo, Gayamsari District. A 9-year-old boy identified as G was found dead after an explosion allegedly caused by firecracker materials assembled inside his home. The explosion happened in the early hours of the morning and caused panic among nearby residents due to the loud blast.

Based on initial reports, the victim was suspected to have obtained firecracker powder through online purchases. The material was then stored and was allegedly in the process of being assembled before it suddenly exploded. Police officers from the Gegana unit and the Forensic Laboratory of the Central Java Regional Police immediately conducted a crime scene investigation to secure the remaining explosive materials.

At the scene, officers confiscated several pieces of evidence, including two boxes of firecrackers and remaining powder believed to be the source of the explosion. Authorities are still carrying out further investigations to determine the exact cause of the incident, including how such dangerous materials were accessed by children.

Powerful Explosion In Pekalongan

A similar incident also occurred in Pekalongan City, specifically in Noyontaansari, Pekalongan Timur District. The explosion happened while several people were assembling firecrackers inside a house in the early morning hours. As a result, at least nine people suffered injuries and were rushed to several medical facilities.

Local residents reported hearing a very loud explosion that shook nearby houses. After the incident, the house used as the firecracker assembly site was reportedly destroyed and filled with thick smoke and a strong, pungent smell. Panic spread quickly as residents rushed outside to check the situation.

Initial investigations indicated that the firecracker materials were also purchased online in large quantities. Around 1.5 kilograms of firecracker powder were used in the assembly process. The victims are currently receiving treatment in different hospitals with varying degrees of injury, ranging from minor to moderate burns.

Injuries Reported In Purworejo

Injuries Reported In Purworejo

Another firecracker-related tragedy occurred in Purworejo Regency, Central Java. The incident took place at a resident’s house in Tasikmadu Village, Pituruh District. The explosion happened while firecrackers were being assembled in the late afternoon before the evening takbiran.

As a result, five people suffered burn injuries of varying severity. One of the victims was reported to have serious burns and had to be referred to a hospital with better medical facilities. The other victims received treatment at nearby healthcare centers.

According to police statements, the firecracker assembly was carried out without proper safety standards. This condition caused the explosion to occur suddenly and severely damaged parts of the house. The incident adds to a growing list of firecracker-related accidents during major religious celebrations in the region.

Firecracker Dangers

The series of incidents in Semarang, Pekalongan, and Purworejo highlights the high risks associated with firecrackers, especially homemade ones. Many cases show that the materials used are highly explosive and unsafe for handling by the general public without proper expertise.

Police and security authorities across various regions have repeatedly urged the public not to manufacture or ignite firecrackers carelessly. In addition to endangering the users themselves, firecracker explosions also threaten the safety of people nearby.

However, the tradition of using firecrackers during the takbiran night is still commonly found in many areas. Lack of awareness about the dangers and easy access to materials through online platforms have worsened the situation. This calls for stricter supervision and stronger preventive measures from all relevant parties.
